Something Old and Something New

Merry Christmas and Happy Holidays! Don’t forget to visit me at the Scribes – I Heart Ebenezer Scrooge!

Since the holiday is fast approaching, I don’t have much to report this week. I’m excited to be on vacation all next week and I hope to make progress on Devil’s Advocate. I had worked on it way back in May and June, then stopped to write The Undead Space Initiative.

Now, I’m in the process of getting back into the groove and submerging myself in the story. I’m excited about this one because it’s based on the very first novel I ever attempted to write. The book was never fully completed and it’s bugged me that I never finished it.

Let’s face it. I had no idea what I was doing back then! It’s better if that story never sees the light of day. Yet, I couldn’t forget my heroine. Devil’s Advocate is my attempt to breathe new life into her.

I still have some decisions to make – first person POV or third? Urban fantasy or romance?

(Who am I kidding? Romance always sneaks into my books.)

Whatever I decide, I’m hopeful to add another manuscript to my completed pile!

Have a safe and wonderful holiday season! Leave me a note and let me know how you plan to spend the holidays!

  1. Hoping for a quiet week myself, Casey, so I can dig into those revisions for Savage Cinderella. I’m working next week, but I’ll have some time to dedicate to my writing which always makes me happy.

I have those characters too–the ones who keep calling my name from the scrap pile of misfit manuscripts. One by one, I’d like to resurrect them and find them new homes.

  2. I love that – misfit manuscripts! Now I can hear that song from Rudolph – the island with the toys…

I’m looking forward to all this time too. I just hope I use it effectively. You know, sometimes too much time is a bad thing….so easy to get distracted.

I can’t wait to see how Savage Cinderella ends!

  3. Ooou…Casey, you are an inspiration. Keep on trucking girl. Have a wonderful holiday and wishing for great things in 2012.

  4. Have a wonderful holiday, Casey! And have a great time with your writing! ๐Ÿ™‚

  5. No, I haven’t been accepted and rejected in the same day, but I had an amazing weekend where I got accepted on Friday night and then on Sunday night–two different pubs, two different books.

    Merry Christmas to everyone.

  6. Good luck on re-visiting that “book of your heart.” My first manuscript sticks in my mind, too, and I plan to go back and rewrite the whole thing. I look forward to watching your progress!

    1. Thanks Tam! I hate leaving things un-done, so this book and several others nag at me. I already know that most of the original plot will be jettisoned. I was able to do it before with the book that became Ascension and I look forward to “re-inventing” this book too.
